BESS/BOA Patient Care Pathways: Traumatic anterior shoulder instability.
نویسندگان
چکیده
. Historically, 96% of shoulder dislocations have been attributed to a traumatic episode with anterior dislocation accounting for 97% of these. . Traumatic dislocation of the glenohumeral joint is the most common joint dislocation with an incidence of 8.2 to 23.9 per 100,000 per year. The male to female ratio is 2.55: 1 with almost 50% occurring in patients between the age of 15 years and 29 years. A second peak in incidence is seen in elderly females over the age of 80 years. . The glenohumeral joint has both static and dynamic factors that contribute to stability. The static factors include the conformity of the articular surfaces, the

Frozen shoulder can be either primary (idiopathic) or secondary. Secondary frozen shoulder is defined as that associated with trauma; rotator cuff disease and impingement; cardiovascular disease; hemiparesis; or diabetes (although some classify this in diabetics as primary frozen shoulder). The incidence of frozen shoulder in people with diabetes is reported to be 10% to 36%, and these tend not...
متن کاملArthroscopic Findings After Traumatic Shoulder Instability in Patients Older Than 35 Years
BACKGROUND Shoulder instability in the older patient traditionally has received less attention in the literature than in the younger patient population. However, when traumatic dislocation does occur, these patients often still have frequent pain, disability, and even continued instability. PURPOSE To characterize the pathoanatomy of traumatic anterior shoulder instability in the older patien...
متن کاملSubacromial shoulder pain BESS/BOA Patient Care Pathways
Subacromial shoulder pain is commonly located to the top and lateral side of the shoulder. It is exaggerated by overhead activity and can be associated with night pain. It is usually associated with full passive range of movement of the glenohumeral joint. The pain originates from the subacromial space of the shoulder, an area made up of the rotator cuff tendons and the subacromial bursa. This ...

متن کاملA neuromuscular exercise programme versus standard care for patients with traumatic anterior shoulder instability: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial (the SINEX study)
BACKGROUND Anterior shoulder dislocation is a common injury and may have considerable impact on shoulder-related quality of life (QoL). If not warranted for initial stabilising surgery, patients are mostly left with little to no post-traumatic rehabilitation. This may be due to lack of evidence-based exercise programmes. In similar, high-impact injuries (e.g. anterior cruciate ligament tears in...
